My friend and former co-worker Alex Kirtland is reviewing public prediction markets on his blog. Given how important a clear understanding of the market is to the accuracy of participants’ voting, I appreciate the POV of someone like Alex who groks good digital design.

Interesting! One of my colleagues at the University of Lausanne has just lanuched a prediction market for the candidate cities for the Olympic Winter Games 2014. However, this is just a test. Ultimately, he will analyze if prediction markets can be used for to better “evaluate” scientific research and detect promising research…
